Lead, Nursing Workforce Strategist

About the role

The Lead, Nursing Workforce Strategist designs and implements strategic initiatives to optimise the nursing workforce and improve healthcare delivery. The role aligns staffing levels, skill mixes and resources with organisational goals and patient‑care needs, driving operational excellence and better patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute workforce strategies to optimise nursing staff allocation, retention and professional development.
• Analyse workforce data, forecast staffing needs and create actionable plans to close gaps and improve resource utilisation.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and HR to design recruitment, onboarding and career progression programmes tailored to nursing professionals.
• Lead initiatives that enhance nurse engagement, job satisfaction and workplace culture, fostering a high‑performing, resilient workforce.
• Monitor key performance indicators related to workforce efficiency, quality of care and staff well‑being, using insights for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of experience in nursing, workforce planning or healthcare administration, with at least 3 years in a strategic or leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Human Resources or related field is highly desirable.
• Professional certification in nursing leadership, workforce planning or talent management (e.g., NEA‑BC, SHRM‑SCP) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare workforce trends, nursing practice standards and talent‑management best practices.
• Excellent analytical, leadership and communication abilities with a proven track record of influencing organisational change.
• Must be a resident of Imo State or willing to relocate.
