Laboratory Engineer – Supervisor & QA/QC Specialist (Geotechnical)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Engineer to supervise and perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities in a geotechnical laboratory. The role supports soil, rock, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing for construction projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests on soils, rocks, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and related materials following recognized standards.
• Perform specific geotechnical tests such as sieve analysis, moisture content, Atterberg limits, compaction, CBR, permeability and triaxial testing.
• Receive, label, prepare and manage field‑collected samples.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
• Record, analyse and document test results accurately for reporting.
• Assist engineers and geologists in interpreting results and preparing technical reports.
• Ensure adherence to laboratory QA/QC procedures, safety regulations and housekeeping standards.
• Monitor inventory of consumables and equipment, reporting replenishment needs.

Required profile

• Diploma, OND, HND or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Laboratory Technology or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a geotechnical or construction‑materials laboratory.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical laboratory procedures and engineering standards.
• Willingness to work both in the laboratory and on‑site as required.
