Junior Legal Associate - Corporate and Commercial Law

About the role

A corporate and commercial law firm in Calabar, Cross River State, is looking for a qualified and motivated Junior Legal Associate. The ideal candidate has experience in corporate and commercial legal practice and a strong interest in transactional, advisory and non-litigation work. The position is full-time and onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions and advisory memoranda.
• Handle Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) filings and regulatory documentation.
• Assist with company secretarial duties, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
• Take part in client meetings, prepare briefs and take accurate minutes.
• Support due diligence exercises and transaction documentation.
• Contribute to internal knowledge management and legal content development where required.

Required profile

• Called to the Nigerian Bar.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' post-call experience in corporate and commercial law practice.
• Currently residing in Calabar, Cross River State.
• Clear interest in non-litigation corporate legal work.
• Excellent organisation, professionalism and attention to detail; able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Strong legal drafting, analytical and research skills.
• Proficiency with a laptop and standard legal and business software.
