Junior Lecturer – Maritime Navigation

About the role

Sealearn Academy is looking for a motivated Junior Lecturer to support the delivery of maritime education. This position is ideal for early‑career professionals with a strong maritime background who are eager to develop teaching expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior faculty in curriculum development and preparation of courseware and teaching materials.
• Develop and deliver lectures, presentations, tutorials and practical sessions on navigation, seamanship, cargo work, environmental protection, maritime safety and related topics.
• Contribute to the creation and assessment of student coursework and examinations.
• Provide academic support and guidance to students.
• Stay current with maritime industry practices, regulations and standards.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic planning, quality‑assurance processes and professional‑development activities.
• Engage in scholarly activities, research and pursuit of further qualifications.

Required profile

• Recognised Master (F.G.) or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency from a reputable flag administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science or a related field (master’s degree desirable).
• Minimum five years of seagoing experience in a management‑level position (Master or Chief Officer).
• Administration‑approved “Train the Trainer” and/or “Train the Simulator Trainer” certificate.
• Understanding of international maritime regulations, including STCW.
• Willingness to pursue further academic qualifications and continuous professional development.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural academic environment.
