Internal Control Officer

About the role

The Internal Control Officer will support the finance team by recording daily transactions, reconciling cash and bank movements, and ensuring compliance with company procedures across our Lagos branches.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions and maintain supporting documents.
• Check branch sales records against cash collections, POS payments and bank transfers.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies.
• Review expenses, petty cash, invoices and payment documents for accuracy and proper approval.
• Conduct branch visits and spot checks on cash, stock and procedural compliance.
• Verify stock receipts, transfers, returns and adjustments, and assist with stock counts.
• Identify and report shortages, irregularities and control weaknesses.
• Prepare simple accounting and internal control reports and follow up on corrective actions.

Required profile

• OND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, audit or internal control.
• Good knowledge of basic accounting, reconciliation and stock control.
• High integrity, confidentiality and ability to report discrepancies objectively.
• Willingness to travel between Lagos branches.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting or inventory software (advantageous).
