Inter-Dealer Broker

About the role

The Inter-Dealer Broker will drive proprietary trading and execution across Nigeria's government bond and FX markets, providing anonymous price discovery and order matching for institutional clients. You will work closely with the CEO and senior advisory team to develop alpha opportunities and enhance the firm’s trading infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Execute inter‑dealer trades in FGN bonds, bond futures (BF02, BF10), NAFEX/FMDQ FX futures and related derivatives.
• Manage live positions across multiple prop books, including FX basis, bond‑futures arbitrage, yield‑curve steepener and FX carry strategies.
• Identify and exploit mispricings between OTC cash markets and exchange‑traded contracts using real‑time market data.
• Provide anonymous price discovery and order matching services to banks, primary dealers and asset managers.
• Maintain voice and electronic brokerage relationships with dealing desks.
• Monitor risk metrics such as DV01, duration, basis risk and counter‑party exposure, adhering to approved limits.
• Escalate limit breaches or exceptional market conditions to senior management immediately.
• Contribute to weekly and monthly P&L reporting, attribution analysis and position commentary.
• Support the build‑out of trading infrastructure, including Bloomberg/Reuters terminals and FMDQ connectivity.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of trading experience in a Nigerian commercial bank, primary dealer, stockbroking firm or similar institution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated experience trading or pricing FGN bonds, Treasury Bills and/or NAFEX/FMDQ FX products.
• Strong understanding of FMDQ Exchange market structure, trading conventions and settlement mechanics.
• Eligibility for SEC Dealing Clerk registration or sponsorship.
