Instrumentation & Automation Technician

About the role

The Instrumentation & Automation Technician is responsible for routine maintenance of all instrumentation and automation equipment in a cement manufacturing environment. The role ensures spare parts availability, supports minor process modifications, and recommends replacement of obsolete components.

Key responsibilities

• Work with process control systems, including PLCs, sensors and actuators.
• Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and manuals for installed equipment.
• Repair, adjust, or replace defective system components such as sensors, transmitters and PLCs.
• Install and calibrate control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, pre‑start‑up tests and generate maintenance reports.
• Use SAP to schedule, plan and execute work while ensuring safety.
• Collaborate with Central Control Room Operators to diagnose field instrument faults and minimise downtime.

Required profile

• 4–5 years post‑graduation experience in instrumentation or automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics/Physics) or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and related quality parameters.

Required skills

• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming and troubleshooting.
• Sensors, actuators and field instrument calibration.
• Interpretation of circuit diagrams and schematics.
• Proficiency with SAP for maintenance planning.
• MS Excel and Microsoft Project for reporting and project coordination.
