Illustration and Graphic Design Consultant for Adolescent Girls Storybook

About the role

UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a skilled Illustration and Graphic Design Consultant to create visual content for an adolescent girls storybook focused on gender and development. This remote, two‑month consultancy will support the Gender and Development Manager in producing culturally resonant illustrations and layouts that empower young readers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts and storyboards aligned with gender‑equality objectives.
• Create original illustrations, character designs, and multimedia assets for print and digital formats.
• Design the book layout, ensuring print‑ready and digital‑ready outputs.
• Collaborate with the lead writer and multidisciplinary team to review and finalize materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, Visual Communication or related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in illustration, graphic design, or visual storytelling.
• Proven portfolio of published children’s or adolescent educational materials.
• Experience creating visuals that reflect African contexts, cultures, and aesthetics.
• Familiarity with gender equality and inclusion principles.
