Illustration and Graphic Design Consultant – Adolescent Girls Storybook

About the role

UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a remote Illustration and Graphic Design Consultant to create a culturally relevant storybook for adolescent girls. The consultant will work closely with the Gender and Development Manager and the lead writer to develop visual content that supports gender equality and empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts and visual narratives that reflect African contexts and cultures.
• Create original illustrations, character designs, and graphic assets for the storybook.
• Design book layout, cover, and multimedia elements using industry‑standard tools.
• Produce print‑ready files and digital versions for multilingual distribution.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to review, refine, and finalize all visual materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in illustration or visual storytelling.
• Proven portfolio of published children’s or adolescent educational materials.
• Experience creating illustrations that represent African aesthetics.
• Familiarity with gender equality and inclusion principles.
