ICSS Maintenance Lead

About the role

The Lead ICSS Engineer ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and integrity of all Instrumentation, Control, and Safety Systems (ICSS) on an FPSO. This senior position provides technical leadership, oversees system availability, and guarantees compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operation and maintenance of ICSS components (DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC, SCADA) to maximise reliability and safety.
• Plan and execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance in line with OEM recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Manage software updates, patches, backups and ensure cybersecurity compliance.
• Apply functional safety standards IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 and validate system modifications.
• Supervise and mentor offshore ICSS and instrumentation technicians.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process and HSE leads for integrated maintenance campaigns.
• Maintain accurate reporting, documentation and status of all ICSS activities.
• Monitor performance KPIs, drive reliability improvement initiatives and optimise maintenance strategies.
• Participate in Management of Change reviews, risk assessments and functional safety assessments, including SIL verification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Experience with DCS, ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G), PLC and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 functional safety standards.
• Root‑cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance planning.
• Software update management, patching and cybersecurity compliance.
• Reliability KPI monitoring and improvement.
• Management of Change (MoC) processes and risk assessment.
• SIL verification and functional safety assessment support.
