Human Resources & Payroll Specialist (Part‑time)

About the role

Clear Water Academy Foundation is looking for an experienced Human Resources & Payroll Specialist to join its team on a part‑time basis. Reporting to the Business Manager and working closely with senior leadership, you will ensure accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and smooth HR operations for faculty and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle payroll for all employees, including new hires, salary adjustments, leaves, and terminations.
• Prepare statutory filings such as T4s, Records of Employment, year‑end reconciliations and remit payroll taxes.
• Administer the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund reporting, calculate pension adjustments and coordinate benefit enrolments and changes.
• Oversee employee leaves (maternity, parental, disability, unpaid) and ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, off‑boarding and maintain up‑to‑date employee records.
• Develop and improve payroll and HR policies, identify process efficiencies and respond to employee inquiries.

Required profile

• Minimum five years (60 months) of experience in payroll and HR administration.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and pension/benefit regulations.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a mission‑driven environment.
