Human-Centered Design & Innovation Specialist

About the role

Our client, a forward‑looking organisation developing innovative solutions for development, social and business challenges, is seeking a Human‑Centered Design & Innovation Specialist to lead the design and development of user‑focused solutions across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead user research activities such as interviews, observations, focus groups, journey mapping and ethnographic studies to uncover user needs, behaviours and pain points.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights, personas, journey maps and design frameworks that guide programme, product and service design.
• Facilitate ideation workshops, design sprints, co‑creation sessions and innovation labs to generate creative solutions.
• Apply systems‑thinking approaches to identify root causes and design sustainable interventions.
• Design, prototype and coordinate pilot‑testing activities, gather feedback and iterate solutions for continuous improvement.
• Engage stakeholders—including communities, government agencies, development partners and private‑sector actors—in participatory design processes.
• Build and nurture multidisciplinary collaborations to ensure solutions remain responsive to evolving user and stakeholder needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience applying design thinking, user‑centred research and systems thinking to complex challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to lead innovation processes, facilitate workshops and co‑creation sessions.
• Strong track record of developing and testing prototypes and iterating based on user feedback.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups such as communities, government bodies and private partners.
