Hospitalist (Inpatient Physician)

About the role

The Hospitalist provides comprehensive medical care to patients admitted to the hospital, overseeing their journey from admission through discharge. This role emphasizes high‑quality, coordinated inpatient care, patient safety, and efficient use of hospital resources while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage ongoing care for admitted patients.
• Lead daily ward rounds, document findings, and adjust treatment based on patient progress.
• Oversee admission processes, coordinate discharge planning, and prepare discharge summaries and follow‑up plans.
• Collaborate with specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Develop and educate staff on evidence‑based protocols, participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, and monitor safety indicators.
• Respond promptly to inpatient emergencies, report clinical incidents, and support accreditation requirements.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or related specialty.
• Experience managing acute and chronic conditions in an inpatient setting.
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to evidence‑based practice.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Dedication to patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous learning.
