Hospital Process Analyst

About the role

Sigma Consulting Group is recruiting a Hospital Process Analyst in Abuja (grade NS12-NS13) to measure, analyse and improve clinical and operational workflows across the hospital. The role focuses on optimising patient journeys, reducing waiting times, improving bed turnover and departmental throughput, and ensuring improvements are measurable, evidence-based and sustainable. It reports to the Head of Hospital Administration, with a functional line to the Chief Medical Officer on clinical workflow matters, and leads improvement project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Map and analyse end-to-end patient journeys across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, theatre, diagnostics and pharmacy services to find bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Develop, monitor and maintain performance indicators such as waiting times, length of stay, bed turnover, occupancy, theatre utilisation and turnaround times.
• Extract, validate and analyse operational data from the Hospital Information System and departmental records, and fix data-quality issues.
• Design and run process-improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles, root-cause analysis and demand-and-capacity modelling.
• Run time-and-motion studies, queue assessments and capacity analyses, and present dashboards and reports to department heads and executives.
• Update SOPs, workflow documentation and process maps, and run multidisciplinary workshops to test new workflows.
• Monitor the sustainability of changes, support quality assurance, accreditation and compliance, and identify automation and standardisation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Health Information Management, Health Sciences, Operations Management, Economics or a similar quantitative discipline.
• Completion of the NYSC programme or a valid exemption, where applicable.
• Minimum of five years of experience in process analysis, operational improvement, performance management, business analysis or healthcare analytics.
• Demonstrable experience in process mapping, workflow analysis and operational redesign, and at least one documented process-improvement project with measurable outcomes.
• Experience in a hospital setting and with multidisciplinary teams; desirable: HIS/EMR data analysis, accreditation exposure and facilitation of improvement projects.

Required skills

• Process mapping (value-stream, swim-lane), Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, root-cause analysis and demand-and-capacity analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python or R.
• Desirable: Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt or above, and certifications in quality improvement, health informatics, data analytics or project management.
