Hematologist (Oncology) – Full‑Time, Lekki, Lagos

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and highly skilled Hematologist (Oncology) to join a leading oncology healthcare provider in Lekki, Lagos. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with benign and malignant hematological disorders, including blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage hematological disorders and blood cancers, developing individualized treatment plans that may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.
• Interpret laboratory investigations, bone marrow biopsies, blood smears, and molecular diagnostic results; monitor treatment response and adjust plans accordingly.
• Manage hematological emergencies, treatment‑related complications, and provide transfusion support while overseeing blood product utilization.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and nursing teams.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards; contribute to clinical audits and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and follow‑up care, offering compassionate counseling throughout the treatment journey.
• Engage in clinical research, stay current with advances in hematology and oncology, and mentor junior doctors as needed.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Fellowship in Hematology from NPMCN or WACP.
• Current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
• Minimum 3–5 years post‑fellowship experience in hematology/oncology.
• Additional oncology‑related certifications are a plus.
