Health, Safety & Environment Officer

About the role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer will ensure that all factory and head‑office operations comply with company HSE policies and Nigerian regulations. You will lead safety inspections, risk assessments, and training programs to foster a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments and ensure compliance with HSE policies and local regulations.
• Develop, implement and coordinate safety procedures, training programs and weekly HSE communications.
• Investigate incidents/accidents, prepare reports and maintain safety records, permits and audit documentation.
• Renew certificates, permits and safety‑related SLAs before expiration.
• Oversee quarterly fumigation of the Head Office and follow up on pending unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate HSE project events and ensure housekeeping and effluent management standards are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in a multi‑functional HSE role.
• Strong knowledge of labor laws, HSE regulations and safety best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
