Head of Non-Formal Education (NFE)

About the role

The Head of Non-Formal Education (NFE) will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of the British Council's NFE portfolio in Nigeria. Reporting to Cultural Engagement, the role provides technical expertise and ensures strategic alignment, high‑quality delivery and achievement of financial and impact targets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the NFE strategy for Nigeria, aligning with global and British Council priorities.
• Provide operational leadership to the Nigeria NFE team, overseeing programme delivery, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), and resource planning.
• Drive business development, manage a pipeline of grant‑funded and commercial opportunities, and develop high‑quality proposals.
• Oversee budgets, profitability, compliance and financial performance across the portfolio.
• Represent the British Council in the NFE sector, building strategic partnerships and ensuring EDI is embedded in all activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading education programmes or portfolios, preferably in a non‑formal context.
• Strong understanding of grant management, partnership development and financial oversight.
• Ability to align national programmes with global strategies and funder priorities.
• Demonstrated commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
