Head of Finance – MFB & Fintech

About the role

The Head of Finance – MFB & Fintech will lead the finance function for WayaBank, a fast‑growing fintech focused on African markets. Based in Lekki with a hybrid schedule, the role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on financial management to support the company’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
• Prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements to guide decision‑making.
• Plan, develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal controls.
• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align financial goals with business objectives.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in finance, preferably within MFB or fintech environments.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Excellent analytical abilities with a focus on actionable insights.
• In‑depth knowledge of finance principles, industry regulations and best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; CFA, CPA or ACCA a plus.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model and manage multiple priorities.
