Head of Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead all engineering activities across EPC projects in Port Harcourt, ensuring safe, compliant, constructible, and cost‑effective delivery. The role provides technical leadership across civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines and acts as the key interface between Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Commercial and Construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) across EPC projects.
• Coordinate internal engineers and external consultants to ensure outputs meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Provide technical leadership, final engineering review and approval.
• Support Procurement and Commercial teams with technical input, alternative materials, and cost optimisation.
• Define technical scope and assumptions during tender and proposal stages.
• Ensure timely delivery of designs, drawings, calculations and specifications.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, procedures and templates.
• Verify constructability and practicality of solutions for site execution.
• Work closely with Project Managers to resolve technical issues during construction.
• Deliver rapid engineering solutions for on‑site challenges and ensure smooth handover.
• Drive value engineering and cost‑optimisation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, HSE requirements and manage technical risks.
• Manage engineering team capacity, identify capability gaps and support recruitment.

Required profile

• Proven senior engineering leader with extensive EPC project experience.
• Strong technical expertise across civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
• Ability to interface with Procurement, Commercial, Projects and Construction teams.
• Experience in bid support, value engineering and cost optimisation.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards and HSE regulations.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
