Head of Corporate Communications

About the role

The Head of Corporate Communications will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the organisation’s mandate to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. Reporting to senior executive management, this role will safeguard reputation, manage stakeholder relationships and drive impactful CSR messaging.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a corporate communications strategy aligned with the organisation’s strategic mandate.
• Oversee media relations to secure accurate, consistent coverage across national and international outlets.
• Manage brand positioning and corporate identity across all internal and external touchpoints.
• Lead executive communications, including speeches, statements and briefing materials for senior leadership.
• Design and implement crisis communication protocols to protect institutional reputation.
• Drive CSR messaging that reflects the organisation’s development impact.
• Advise executive management on communication risks, opportunities and stakeholder sentiment.
• Ensure strategic engagement with government bodies, industry partners and the public.

Required profile

• 12‑15 years progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations or brand management, preferably in the public sector or infrastructure.
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing communications functions.
• Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, crisis communications and reputation management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, English or related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications are an advantage.
