Head of Commercial

About the role

AfriPay is seeking its first commercial hire to lead sales and partnership efforts for its education‑focused payment platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be hands‑on in sourcing, pitching, closing and onboarding the initial customers while building the future sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage a pipeline of fintech and remittance partners.
• Own the full sales cycle from initial contact to signed contract and first live transaction within 7 days.
• Conduct technical discussions with customers’ CTOs and developers, delivering API walkthroughs and sandbox demos.
• Set pricing, negotiate deal terms, forecast revenue and bring customer feedback to product engineering.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in sales, partnerships or solutions engineering within payments, banking or API companies.
• Proven track record of sourcing and closing deals independently, with measurable results.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian payments ecosystem, including settlement, reconciliation and foreign‑exchange processes.
• Existing network among fintech and remittance decision‑makers.

Required skills

• Ability to read API documentation and guide developers through integration.
• Experience with pricing models, margin analysis and commercial contract negotiation.
