Head of Accounts

About the role

A full-time Head of Accounts position in Lagos, advertised by Jobberman, with a 75% upfront payment. The role covers the preparation of financial statements, supervision of daily accounting operations, payroll oversight, statutory compliance and reporting to management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and review accounts from trial balance to final statements.
• Ensure accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards.
• Supervise daily accounting operations and maintain proper documentation.
• Oversee bank payments, payment vouchers and regular bank reconciliations.
• Review permanent, casual and contract staff payroll for accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage customer accounts, receivables, payables and supplier invoice verification.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee asset tagging, verification and reconciliation.
• Ensure proper inventory accounting, stock valuation and monitoring of stock movements.
• Ensure statutory tax compliance (PAYE, WHT, VAT, CIT, ITF, NSITF) and coordinate tax matters and audits.
• Supervise finance and accounts staff and enforce internal controls.
• Prepare financial reports and analysis for management decisions.

Required profile

• HND in Accounting/Accountancy from a reputable institution.
• At least 7-10 years of hands-on experience.
• Experience in the manufacturing or trading sector.
• ICAN certification.
• Managerial or leadership experience is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Experience using accounting and ERP systems, preferably Odoo.

• Monthly net remuneration of NGN 800,000 to 1.2 million.
