Head, Business Development - Insurance Brokerage

About the role

Stanbic IBTC Insurance Brokers Limited, part of Standard Bank Group, is looking for a Head of Business Development in Lagos. The role drives the business development strategy of the insurance broker subsidiary, expands its portfolio and explores new business opportunities in line with the group's broader strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive the sales strategy for the insurance broker subsidiary and support the group's strategy
• Ensure effective cross-selling of insurance products across all major product lines
• Maximise insurance revenue opportunities across the Stanbic IBTC group's business segments
• Supervise business development managers so they meet their targets, and train and mentor them on product and insurance industry knowledge
• Achieve monthly and yearly targets for insurance brokerage income, insurance policies and new customer acquisition (personal and business lines)
• Develop and adopt additional channels for customers to buy and interact with their policies
• Grow the broker's share of customers' insurance portfolios by upselling products
• Keep abreast of market trends, developments and benchmarks in the financial sector

Required profile

• BSc in a marketing-related field
• 8-10 years of experience developing, designing and enabling segment value propositions
• 8-10 years in consumer banking, including heading a segment, with knowledge of affluent consumers
• Experience managing an income statement and balance sheet
• Professional certification in a relevant field is an added advantage
