Head Accountant

About the role

The Head Accountant will lead the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, robust budgeting, tax compliance and strong internal controls. This senior position provides strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and maintain financial integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash‑flow management.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, Nigerian tax laws and statutory regulations.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Prepare and file statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Company Income Tax).
• Maintain internal controls and financial risk‑management processes.
• Monitor financial performance and advise senior management.
• Supervise finance staff and ensure efficient operations.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, banks and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field (Master’s/MBA a plus).
• Professional certification: ICAN or ACCA (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
• High professionalism, confidentiality and integrity.
