Hardware Staging & Hot‑Swap Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Hardware Staging & Hot‑Swap Engineer to join our data‑centre team in Lagos. The role focuses on receiving, testing, and deploying server chassis, as well as performing live hot‑swap maintenance without impacting neighbouring equipment. You will ensure accurate inventory tracking and compliance with our power‑feed standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and verify incoming server chassis against bill‑of‑materials checklists.
• Mount 2U server chassis in rack positions following the A+B power‑feed separation standard.
• Execute the 72‑hour Hardware Acceptance Test (HAT) burn‑in protocol on each chassis.
• Perform hot‑swap node card replacements during live maintenance windows without disrupting adjacent nodes.
• Maintain physical spare‑parts inventory and conduct scheduled inspections.
• Keep an up‑to‑date rack register with chassis positions, slot assignments, asset tags and maintenance history.

Required profile

• HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience with server hardware installation, rack‑and‑stack or data‑centre physical infrastructure.
• Direct experience with enterprise‑grade server hardware, including cabling and PSU management.
• Familiarity with structured‑cabling standards and rack‑elevation documentation.
• Methodical, detail‑oriented and able to follow multi‑step procedures independently.
