Handyman – Facilities Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Handyman to support the Facilities Manager and priesthood leaders in maintaining our meetinghouse and grounds in Nigeria. The role involves performing a wide range of minor repairs, installations and cleaning tasks to keep the building safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and drywall repairs.
• Maintain landscaping, lawn equipment, sprinkler systems and perform deep‑cleaning of interior spaces.
• Assist with generator upkeep, lock and hinge repairs, and installation of new furniture or equipment.
• Log supplies, follow the FM work‑order process and support contractor supervision.
• Report hazards, attend meetings and training sessions, and ensure workplace safety.

Required profile

• Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints with a valid Temple recommend.
• CTC II or HND in Building Construction, Electricals or a related field.
• At least three years of facilities maintenance experience covering electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and cleaning.
• Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work with priesthood leaders, vendors and staff.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl, bend and lift equipment safely.

• Landscaping, sprinkler and lawn‑mower maintenance.
• Generator maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Use of industrial cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic computer applications.
