Geoscientist (Contractor)

About the role

Seismic Swift AI is seeking an experienced Geoscientist contractor to validate and improve our ML‑powered seismic imaging workflow. You will work directly with our software team to reproduce published metrics, adjudicate imaging results, and assess the realism of synthetic and field data acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Reproduce recovery and image‑quality metrics from a clean clone and resolve discrepancies.
• Adjudicate the Marmousi FWI result, testing hypotheses about illumination normalization and line‑search strategies.
• Review synthetic acquisition setups for realism, including geometry, offsets, source signature, and mute design.
• Execute velocity‑model building on real datasets (Volve, Sleipner) and identify failures compared to benchmark models.
• Provide a buyer‑eye readiness verdict on whether a VP Subsurface would accept the deliverable.

Required profile

• Essential MSc or PhD in geophysics with 8+ years of production seismic experience in an operator, processing house, or service company.
• Hands‑on experience delivering and evaluating full‑cycle FWI, RTM, or LSRTM projects.
• Proven ability to assess vendor imaging deliverables and document acceptance decisions.
• Willingness to communicate findings in writing with supporting evidence.

Required skills

• Python and NumPy for scripting and measurement development.
• Velocity model building, reflection tomography, depth conversion, anisotropy, free‑surface and multiple handling.
• QC of gathers: flatness, residual moveout on CIGs, well ties, illumination and fold analysis, migration artifact recognition.
• Experience with benchmark models such as Marmousi‑II, SEAM, and F3.
• 4‑D/time‑lapse processing, anisotropic or elastic inversion beyond acoustic.
