Generator Technician

About the role

The Generator Technician is responsible for the full operation, maintenance, and performance monitoring of all generator sets at the site. You will ensure reliable power supply by conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and keeping detailed records of all activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all generator sets.
• Inspect and troubleshoot generator sets to identify faults.
• Check battery charge status, perform hydrometer and lead‑acid testing, and monitor radiator water and engine lubrication oil levels.
• Conduct water‑jacket heater checks and keep accurate logs of operating parameters.
• Change oil and filters as required.
• Perform weekly no‑load testing and record results on the standard run‑test form.
• Maintain comprehensive records of load testing and all maintenance activities.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• SSCE/GCE/NECO qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Generator Technician.
• Trade apprenticeship or comparable vocational training.
• Proficiency in estimating task completion times.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without supervision.
