General Manager – Retail Sector

About the role

The General Manager – Retail Sector will lead the overall performance, profitability and growth of the retail business across all outlets. Reporting to senior leadership, the role is responsible for strategy, operations, sales, inventory, finance and customer experience to ensure sustainable market competitiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement retail business strategies aligned with organisational objectives, driving revenue growth, market expansion and profitability.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of all retail stores, ensuring compliance with company policies, operational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive achievement of sales targets and business KPIs through promotional campaigns, sales initiatives and new revenue‑stream identification.
• Manage inventory planning, replenishment and control to minimise losses, shrinkage and obsolete stock while maintaining product availability.
• Control operational budgets, review financial reports and implement cost‑reduction measures to improve margins.
• Champion a customer‑centric culture, monitor feedback and resolve escalated complaints to ensure exceptional experiences.
• Lead, coach and develop retail management teams, drive performance management and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance with retail regulations, health and safety standards and manage operational risks.
