General Manager – Piling & Deep Foundations

About the role

The General Manager will lead a fast‑scaling civil engineering and construction firm’s deep‑foundations business across multiple sites in Nigeria. Reporting directly to executive leadership, the GM will translate strategic objectives into profitable, well‑governed operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily execution of all piling and deep‑foundation projects across multiple locations, ensuring engineering quality and resource efficiency.
• Convert board‑level goals into operational milestones that protect timelines and profitability.
• Build, mentor, and manage cross‑functional teams of project managers, site engineers, and technical staff.
• Control the full project lifecycle from geotechnical assessment interpretation through piling execution, load testing, and client handover.
• Optimize equipment and workforce utilisation while mitigating supply‑chain delays and site downtime.
• Lead stakeholder relationships, manage contracts, and maintain near‑zero variance on delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Active professional registration with COREN or equivalent bodies (NSE, ICE, IStructE).
• 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience in civil engineering, construction, or heavy infrastructure.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale piling and deep‑foundation projects in Nigeria or the wider African market.
• Demonstrated ability to run capital‑intensive, multi‑site operations independently.
• Strong commercial acumen in project finance, budgeting, procurement, and contract management.
