Full-Time Community Pharmacist

About the role

A qualified, licensed and customer-oriented Community Pharmacist is sought on a full-time basis. The pharmacist dispenses medications, provides professional pharmaceutical care, counsels patients on the safe use of medicines and ensures compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and standards. The work schedule is alternate weekends (Saturday 8am-8pm, Sunday 12noon-6pm) and alternate days (8am-8pm).

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications accurately and safely.
• Review prescriptions for appropriate dosage, drug interactions and contraindications.
• Counsel patients on proper use, side effects, dosage and storage of medicines.
• Recommend suitable over-the-counter medicines for minor ailments within the scope of professional practice.
• Monitor medication inventory, check expiry dates and ensure proper storage.
• Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled medicines, sales and other transactions.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, professional ethics and regulatory requirements.
• Provide basic health advice, promote medication adherence and report suspected adverse drug reactions.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff and maintain a clean, organised pharmacy environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from a recognised institution.
• Current registration and valid practising licence with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
• Previous experience in community or retail pharmacy is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of prescription medications, OTC products, drug interactions and pharmaceutical care.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
