Full Stack Developer – AI‑Powered Education Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join the African Institute for Artificial Intelligence LBG and help build Pedagic, an AI‑driven education platform. You will work across the entire stack, from database design to front‑end interfaces, integrating generative AI services to create lesson notes, adaptive tests and more.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain features across the full stack of the Pedagic web application.
• Integrate generative AI APIs (LLM endpoints) for lesson generation, adaptive testing, exam creation and parent communication.
• Create responsive, mobile‑first UI that performs on low‑end Android devices and 3G networks.
• Build and sustain RESTful APIs for web and future mobile clients.
• Contribute to architecture, scalability and security as the user base expands.
• Write clean, well‑documented code with appropriate test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and product planning with the founding team.
• Identify technical risks, propose solutions and own delivery timelines.
• Support deployment pipelines and adopt DevOps practices as the infrastructure grows.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional full‑stack web development experience.
• Strong proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework (React or Next.js preferred).
• Solid backend experience with Node.js or Python and RESTful API design.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
• Experience consuming third‑party APIs, handling authentication, webhooks and errors.
• Understanding of mobile‑first, responsive design and performance optimisation for low‑bandwidth environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Proficient with Git version control and collaborative workflows.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and meet milestones.
