Executive Director, Global Corporate Banking – Lagos

About the role

Join J.P. Morgan’s Global Corporate Bank in Lagos as an Executive Director. You will lead the expansion of the bank’s corporate banking franchise across Nigeria and West Africa, working with both locally headquartered corporates and subsidiaries of multinational firms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage relationships with a portfolio of Nigerian and West African corporate clients and multinational subsidiaries.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams—including investment banking, product specialists, and headquarters relationship bankers—to originate and execute multi‑product, multi‑country opportunities.
• Provide market insights to offshore coverage, risk, and product partners, contextualising local risks and opportunities.
• Drive sales activities such as strategy development, client outreach, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with risk, AML, KYC and other control requirements as the first line of defence.
• Monitor expenses, manage resources efficiently and seek ways to improve profitability.

Required profile

• Proven corporate banking experience in Nigeria or West Africa with a strong track record of winning new business.
• Experience managing complex, multi‑product and multi‑country client relationships at a regional level.
• Deep knowledge of corporate and investment banking products, including loans, bonds, rates, FX, derivatives, structured products, payments/treasury services and trade finance.
• Expertise in risk management and experience originating credit or debt capital markets transactions.
• Excellent commercial judgment, influencing ability and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the region and internationally.
