Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are seeking a highly analytical Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations, turning raw numbers into actionable business intelligence for finance, marketing and operations teams across Africa. The role is fully remote and focuses on building advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance tracking models for senior management.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors and ensure 100% data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into visual formats and train remote cross‑functional teams on using the tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modeling.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment across African time zones.

Required skills

• Expert‑level mastery of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• Extensive experience creating VBA macros and custom scripts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SQL databases and data visualization principles.
