Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor specialized in estimation and proposals to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects in the UK. The role involves handling the full tender process from initial inquiries to final submissions and may be performed remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Manage the tender and bid process, reviewing documents and submitting competitive bids.
• Develop comprehensive proposals that showcase the company’s strengths.
• Conduct quantity take‑offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
• Obtain and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Maintain a database of historical project costs for future estimates.
• Communicate with clients, architects, engineers and internal teams to clarify requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum two years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor focusing on estimation and proposals.

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimation software such as Bluebeam, Planswift or CostX.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and building codes.
• Understanding of contract law and UK tender procedures.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
