Environmental Scientist

About the role

We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to join Castel Resources in Port Harcourt, supporting our mining and energy operations with robust environmental assessments and compliance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments, inspections, surveys and monitoring of air, water, soil and waste.
• Collect, analyse and interpret environmental data and identify hazards or non‑compliance.
• Develop and implement environmental management and monitoring plans.
• Prepare reports, compliance documentation and technical assessments.
• Monitor operational impacts and recommend mitigation measures.
• Support Environmental Impact Assessments, audits and evaluation studies.
• Oversee waste management, pollution control and sustainability initiatives.
• Liaise with regulators, consultants and contractors.
• Deliver environmental awareness and compliance training.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• HND or equivalent in Environmental Science, Management, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Geography or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in environmental management, consulting, HSE, oil & gas, construction or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, pollution control and waste management.
• Experience preparing environmental reports and compliance documentation.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognised environmental body is an advantage.
