English Teacher – Secondary School

About the role

Hermon Heights Model College is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join its secondary school faculty. The role involves delivering engaging English lessons that align with the national WAEC/NECO curriculum and supporting students’ overall academic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver comprehensive lesson plans for English language and literature.
• Administer tests, examinations, and continuous assessments to monitor student progress.
• Maintain classroom discipline and uphold the school’s Christian values.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
• Identify students needing extra help and provide targeted academic support.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent‑teacher conferences.
• Collaborate with colleagues and management to foster a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Minimum H.N.D in English or a related subject.
• Post‑Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is highly advantageous.
• At least 2 years of secondary school teaching experience.
• Deep knowledge of the English curriculum and strong command of the language.
• High moral standards, integrity, and willingness to work within a faith‑based environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is a plus.
• Willingness to relocate to or commute within the Ogunmakin region.
