Engineering Director – EPC/Construction

About the role

The Engineering Director will provide engineering assurance and technical leadership across EPC, PMC and construction delivery for Dangote Construction & Heavy Industries. This senior role ensures multidisciplinary integration, disciplined design management and safe, high‑quality project execution throughout all phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering governance across all projects, overseeing design assurance, constructability, value engineering and technical interface resolution.
• Establish and enforce engineering management systems such as design review gates, deliverable registers, technical query processes, document review cycles and change‑control procedures.
• Drive risk‑based engineering decisions under schedule and commercial pressure while maintaining safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate engineering inputs throughout the project lifecycle, linking engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover teams.
• Ensure rigorous vendor and contractor document review, including equipment data sheets, drawings and calculations.
• Conduct constructability and operability reviews to align designs with construction sequencing and commissioning strategies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks that could affect cost, schedule or quality.
• Provide authoritative oversight on technical deviations, concessions and change impacts.
• Build, mentor and lead discipline engineering leads, developing internal capability and leveraging external consultants.
• Establish a Lagos‑led engineering assurance function to create a sustainable, high‑quality in‑house engineering capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Chemical, Process, Industrial, etc.).
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Professional engineering registration required or strongly preferred (COREN for Nigeria or recognized international Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer credential).
