Embedded System Engineer

About the role

Fuelmetrics Inc. is seeking an Embedded System Engineer to join its Lagos team. The role is full‑time, hybrid, focusing on designing, developing, testing and optimizing embedded hardware and software for energy‑sector IoT solutions. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable automation and payment infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded firmware for microcontroller‑based devices.
• Integrate hardware and software components, including sensors and communication modules.
• Conduct unit and system testing, debug hardware/software issues, and optimise performance.
• Collaborate with product, mechanical and cloud teams to define IoT system requirements.
• Produce documentation and maintain version control for code and hardware schematics.
• Support field deployment and provide technical troubleshooting for installed units.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 1 month of relevant experience in embedded software development.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work in a fast‑moving start‑up environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
