Deputy Head of Transport

About the role

The Deputy Head of Transport will support the strategic leadership and operational management of transport and logistics across a designated region of Nigeria. Reporting to the Head of Transport, this senior role ensures safe, reliable and cost‑effective movement of raw materials and finished products.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Group’s transport and logistics strategy, policies and standards in the assigned region.
• Lead inbound and outbound transport operations, maintaining high safety and reliability standards.
• Oversee optimisation of a large multi‑site vehicle fleet, including route planning and vehicle allocation.
• Monitor KPIs, drive improvements in fleet utilisation, delivery performance and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, HSE standards and internal service‑level requirements.
• Manage relationships with contractors, third‑party logistics providers and regulatory authorities.
• Support fleet modernisation, procurement of new equipment and adoption of telematics and digital fleet‑management solutions.
• Collaborate with Production, Sales, Procurement, Engineering and Supply Chain teams for seamless logistics execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field; postgraduate qualification is a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in transport, logistics or supply‑chain management.
• At least 5 years managing large‑scale regional transport operations in heavy‑industrial environments.
• Proven track record overseeing extensive vehicle fleets and outsourced logistics providers.
