Deputy Financial Controller

About the role

The Deputy Financial Controller will support the plant’s finance function by overseeing budgeting, reporting, financial analysis and forecasting. This senior position ensures accurate financial records, compliance with IFRS and DCP Nigeria policies, and drives cost‑efficiency across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee plant budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, cost and revenue management, and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Drive implementation of finance policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the budgeting process, gather inputs from all business units, and manage exceptions.
• Prepare timely management reports to support decision‑making.
• Maintain and update monthly, quarterly and yearly financial forecasts and ratio analysis.
• Collaborate with other departments on financial assessment of projects and business plans.
• Ensure financial reports comply with DCP Nigeria’s accounting policies and IFRS.
• Identify risks, prevent revenue leakage, and optimize use of financial resources.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Lead the finance department, approve budgets within authority limits, and report to the Head of Finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or equivalent.
• Significant experience in the manufacturing sector, preferably as a senior finance manager or plant finance manager.
• Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IFRS.
• Financial modelling expertise.
• Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP.
