About the role
Our client, a technology company focused on payments solutions for African businesses, is looking for a Data Engineer to help build and scale its data platform. The role is hybrid, based in Nigeria, and operates in a remote‑first environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, processing, storage, and egress.
- Build and extend the infrastructure that powers the data platform.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure data reliability and performance.
- Implement streaming solutions using Kafka‑based technologies.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate testing for data workflows.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of data engineering experience and at least 2 years of software development experience.
- Proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Python (essential), JavaScript, Scala.
- Kafka, Debezium, Kafka Connect.
- Apache Airflow, Databricks, Dagster, Airbyte.
- MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, BigQuery, SingleStore.
- Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm.
- AWS services.
- Advanced SQL and query optimization.
- Unit and integration testing, CI/CD pipelines.
- BI tools: Tableau, Looker, DOMO.
