Cybersecurity Instructor (On-site, weekdays)

About the role

IJAN Africa is seeking a full-time Cybersecurity Instructor to deliver in-person training on core security topics to learners in Lagos. The role focuses on teaching network, application and information security through hands-on labs and real-world projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver structured classroom sessions covering network security, application security and information security.
• Prepare and update lesson plans, practical labs and supporting materials.
• Guide students through hands-on exercises, case studies and project-based assessments.
• Assess learner progress via assignments, quizzes and projects, providing feedback and mentorship.
• Collaborate with the academic team to refine curriculum and stay current with emerging threats.
• Participate occasionally in workshops, information sessions or community events.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity and information security with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Hands-on experience in network and application security, malware analysis and incident response.
• Previous teaching, training or mentoring experience in a technical or vocational setting.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, OSCP or GIAC (highly beneficial).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent communication and learner-centered teaching style.
• Willingness to work on-site in Lagos on physical weekdays.

Required skills

• Network security – firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, secure network design.
• Application security – secure coding principles, threat modeling, common vulnerabilities.
• Malware analysis and basic incident response.
• Threat intelligence concepts.
