Customs Advisor – Compliance & Trade Specialist

About the role

The Customs Advisor will provide expert guidance on customs regulations, tariffs and import/export requirements for Alert Group’s diverse operations. Based in Lagos, this full‑time position works closely with procurement, supply‑chain and logistics teams to ensure seamless cross‑border transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate documentation for all imported and exported goods.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply‑chain teams to guarantee regulatory compliance.
• Monitor updates to customs laws and assess impact on business operations.
• Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and minimise delays.
• Prepare compliance reports, support internal audits and suggest process improvements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and demand‑planning abilities.
• Consulting and supply‑chain management experience.
• Procurement knowledge to align customs requirements with sourcing strategies.
• In‑depth understanding of Nigerian and regional customs regulations and trade compliance.
• Proven experience working with customs authorities, logistics partners or in a consulting environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Economics or related field; certifications in customs or trade compliance are a plus.
