Corporate Accounting Manager

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is looking for an experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to lead budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance across its headquarters and research centres in Ibadan.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to, prepare and monitor the Institute’s overall budget and centre‑specific budgets, including capital budgeting.
• Oversee inter‑centre accounting operations and produce regular management reports.
• Manage implementation and compliance of Oracle ERP and other approved finance software.
• Support the preparation of audited financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Prepare the annual report and supervise insurance functions.
• Lead the Advances and Expense Claims, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Freight Accounting, asset disposal, and online finance applications.
• Supervise annual asset verification, stock counts, and ensure accurate trial balance reconciliation.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Financial Controller or Chief Finance and Risk Officer.

Required profile

• MSc/MBA in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in a similar senior accounting role.
• Professional qualification: ACA or ACCA.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Goal‑oriented, proactive, high integrity and able to work under pressure.
