About the role

Awameal Ltd is seeking a dedicated Cook to join its food production team in Owerri. The role focuses on preparing Nigerian dishes at commercial scale while maintaining high standards of taste, quality, and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare rice, soups, stews, sauces and protein dishes according to approved recipes and SOPs.
• Maintain consistent seasoning, texture, portion sizes and overall quality during bulk production.
• Handle meat, chicken, turkey, fish and other proteins safely and efficiently.
• Minimise waste while meeting daily production targets and deadlines.
• Keep the workstation clean, organised and compliant with food safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Kitchen and production team.
• Report any issues related to ingredients, equipment or food quality promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum SSCE/High School Certificate.
• At least 2 years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant, catering or commercial kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian cuisine and large‑scale cooking techniques.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long periods and work early mornings, weekends or overnight shifts.
• Based in Owerri or willing to relocate.
