Construction Officer – Retail Projects

About the role

The fast‑growing grocery retail chain is expanding its store network across Lagos and needs a competent Construction Officer with an architectural background. You will work closely with the Expansion Manager to ensure new stores open on schedule, within budget, and to the company’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve construction offers and invoices for new stores and renovations.
• Validate quality claims and decide on material costs.
• Reject unsuitable contractors and recommend new ones.
• Advise the Sales and Expansion Managers on layout options.
• Supervise construction execution, monitoring time, budget and quality compliance.
• Suggest updates to the Construction Manual.
• Conduct on‑site reviews of maintenance activities and report risks promptly.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Architecture.
• Minimum 5 years of in‑house architectural and project management experience on construction sites.
• Hands‑on experience with project costing and construction management.
• Knowledge of design policies, international specifications, building regulations and construction details.
• Residence within Ijegun, Agege, Ago Palace, Festac or similar mainland areas.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word).
• Experience with MS Project for project management.
