Commercial Technical Analyst (Oil & Gas)

About the role

The Commercial Technical Analyst will support the commercial operations of a major oil‑and‑gas refinery by leveraging data analysis, performance monitoring and project management. The role focuses on aligning refinery output with market‑driven commercial targets and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse sales, pricing and market demand data to provide insights on product profitability and market trends.
• Monitor and report on commercial KPIs such as sales volumes, market share, pricing trends and revenue generation.
• Conduct cost and profitability assessments of refinery products, identifying opportunities to maximise revenue and reduce costs.
• Assess overall business performance against objectives and recommend improvement actions.
• Prepare performance reports and highlight key trends for senior management.
• Evaluate project briefs, determine technical parameters, allocate resources and manage risks.
• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies and industry standards.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within commercial operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar commercial/technical analyst role.
• Professional membership with relevant management bodies.
• Proven experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of commodities trading.
• Excellent communication, analytical and evaluation abilities.
• Customer‑oriented mindset with solid project‑management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
