Co-Generation Engineer II – Main

About the role

The Co‑Generation Engineer II is responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of the main power‑generation and refrigeration systems at a large industrial plant. Working under the Director’s guidance, the engineer leads a shift team of three engineers on 12‑hour rotations, ensuring reliable steam, electricity and chilled‑water production while responding to load changes, weather impacts and equipment outages.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair two 1100 psig and two 250 psig boilers, turbine generators (5000 kW and two 2500 kW), combustion turbine (7500 kW) and heat‑recovery steam generator.
• Operate and supervise four electrical power systems including UPS, 13.8 kV utility distribution, emergency diesel generator and plant‑generated power.
• Oversee turbine‑driven chillers (4000 ton, 5000 ton and three 2500 ton units), evaporators, chilled‑water pumps and associated cooling towers.
• Coordinate with the utility provider for power line switching and synchronize generators as required.
• Perform minor electrical tasks such as fuse changes, bulb replacements and circuit‑breaker checks.
• Monitor and adjust power factor, frequency and voltage; manage fuel and ammonia unloading.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (LOTO, arc‑flash, PPE) and JACHO emergency diesel generator procedures.
• Log operational observations, monitor boiler emissions and water chemistry, and align plant output with market dispatches.

Required profile

• Experience in operation and maintenance of large‑scale power‑plant equipment.
• Ability to supervise a small engineering team and work rotating 12‑hour shifts.
• Familiarity with safety protocols such as lock‑out/tag‑out, arc‑flash protection and personal protective equipment.
• Capability to respond to load variations, weather changes and equipment outages.

• Chiller and refrigeration system maintenance (electric and turbine‑driven).
• Electrical power system management (UPS, 13.8 kV distribution, emergency diesel generator).
• Centrifugal compressor and cooling‑tower operation.
• Emission‑control monitoring and water‑chemistry management.
• Minor electrical maintenance (fuse replacement, circuit‑breaker checks).
• Power‑factor correction, voltage and frequency adjustment.
