Civil Engineer

About the role

NJZC International Construction is hiring a full-time Civil Engineer based in Lagos, Marina. The role covers the review and validation of civil and structural engineering work, ensuring designs and construction meet project requirements, applicable codes and standards, and that safety and quality are properly integrated.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate engineering calculations, design assumptions, construction methodologies and technical solutions for structural integrity, functionality, constructability and compliance with project requirements.
• Establish and review design criteria, technical specifications and engineering standards in line with Nigerian and international codes, contractual obligations and industry best practice.
• Evaluate engineering alternatives and recommend safe, cost-effective solutions that optimise project delivery and lifecycle performance.
• Review and coordinate civil engineering deliverables from internal teams, consultants and specialist subcontractors, and integrate them with mechanical, electrical, piping and instrumentation disciplines.
• Provide technical advice on complex civil and structural matters and recommend resolutions to design and construction challenges.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian legislation, regulatory requirements, contractual specifications and international standards.
• Contribute to quality plans, inspection and test plans, quality control procedures and engineering assurance processes, and review inspection records, test reports and survey data.
• Identify non-conformities and oversee corrective and preventive actions, and ensure safety is built into design reviews and construction methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is required.
• COREN registration is an added advantage; professional certifications in project management, construction management, contract administration or specialised engineering fields are advantageous.
